My chandelier I want to take down and paint the brass part black. Any feedback would be helpful. I'm just planning on spray painting it...should I be doing something before or after that?

After of room painted and curtains hung last night. Do you see the gleer that is called SUNSHINE...it came to visit today and is wonderful. Anyway I need to still get chairs covered, curtain tie backs. and some final decor touches...Now it is looking completely different than I envisioned but I'm enjoying the lighter cleaner fresher look..The big change is going to be if you noticed my baseboard is gone, we are putting up white trim along with chair rail maybe molding. The paint I picked out is Behr from home depot called Gentle Rain..Thanks for the visit, I hope you are having a terrific week.
